Maturity in the Body
Spiritual food with Jess – September 20, 2024
“Solid food is for the mature” is a biblical phrase that signifies deeper spiritual teachings and truths intended for those who have developed a strong foundation in their faith and understanding of God through a revelation from the Holy Spirit. It suggests that spiritual “solid food” requires maturity and readiness to digest and apply just like physical food.
Hebrews 5:14 NIV
[14] But solid food is for the mature, who, by constant use, have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
If we are to mature in Christ, from spiritual “milk” to “solid food,” we need to deepen our understanding by engaging in more in-depth study of the Bible, prayer and fasting, intimacy, and seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit. It involves moving beyond basic teachings to explore deeper truths, doctrines, and spiritual practices that challenge our human understanding and feed our faith.
What does your transition to solid food look like?
Have you moved beyond the basic teachings since you first became a Christian?
What spiritual revelations have you had? How do you apply them to your everyday walk with Christ?
References from scripture:
Milk – Elementary teachings:
Hebrews 6:1-2 NIV[1] Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, [2] instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
Solid food – When Jesus sent the disciples out to Minister:
Matthew 10:8 NIV
[8] Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
Regardless of our level of Spiritual maturity, God can still use us.
Having a deeper understanding of spiritual truths and teachings (solid food) can provide a stronger foundation and confidence when facing spiritual challenges, such as casting out demons.
So, the choice is in our hands,
Do you want to move to spiritual maturity?
