Deliverance manifestations
Spiritual food with Jess – October 18, 2024
When it comes to Deliverance, we can have a certain expectation of what it will be like, what it will feel like, and what it will look like.
Many movies from Hollywood paint a picture that Satan is all-powerful and always wins when, in reality, he isn’t and doesn’t!
Scripture tells us that Jesus carries all authority. We know his name is above every other name. Every spirit is under the authority of God, and it must surrender to the name of Jesus.
Matthew 28:18 – “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’”

Even if we go online today, on YouTube, for example, you will find videos of people contorting their bodies, screaming and displaying really crazy behaviour.
True Deliverance can sometimes present like that; other times, it doesn’t. Deliverance can be quiet, too! It’s not Hollywood, and we aren’t in a movie. Understanding the diversity of deliverance manifestations can open our minds to the many ways it can be experienced.
In deliverance ministries, some people might appear to “put on a show” for various reasons:
- Emotional Release: Deliverance can be an intense emotional experience. People may express themselves dramatically by releasing pent-up emotions or confronting deep-seated issues.
- Spiritual Warfare: Some believe visible manifestations during Deliverance signify spiritual battles. They feel that showing these manifestations is part of the process of confronting evil spirits.
- Community Influence: In some cases, the atmosphere of a service can encourage heightened emotional expressions. If others are reacting strongly, individuals may feel compelled to respond in a similar manner. This sense of community can make us feel connected and part of a larger spiritual journey.
- Misunderstanding or Misrepresentation: Only some portrayals of Deliverance are genuine. Some may exaggerate or act in ways that aren’t authentic, which can lead to perceptions of a “show.” By clarifying these misconceptions, we can all better understand what true Deliverance is.
