The Reckoning

Spiritual food with Jess – May 4, 2026

The hardest battles aren’t fought on fields of glory; they are fought in the suffocating silence of a hallway, within the four walls meant to be a sanctuary, and in the jagged corners of a mind under siege.

“The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

Hands meant to cradle now carry the weight of violence.

A mouth meant to bless is filled with the vile words of the accuser.

What was designed to be your armour has been stripped away, leaving you bare-boned and bleeding

all to make you believe you are a defeated foe.

But they misjudged the marrow.

you can hurt the flesh and the armour, but you cannot touch the core of who I am.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid?” — Psalm 27:1

To stand as a shield for the innocent was a path I did not choose,

but it is one I will never flee.

Even as adrenaline burns and fear rattles me,

I will hold the line, even to the point of my death.

I refuse to cower before a coward who speaks the devil’s language.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7

This is not merely a clash of flesh and bone.

This is war against the ancient darkness that hungers to dismantle what God has built.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers…” — Ephesians 6:12

Let the walls shake.

Let the night grow teeth.

I stand anchored in the promise that the Lord is the Advocate of the oppressed.

He does not merely see the tears that fall in silence

He counts them as battle cries.

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;

He delivers them from all their troubles.” — Psalm 34:17
